Eating was very simple when our parents and grandparents were growing up. What food they did not grow they went to their local grocer to get. Fruits and vegetables were often grown locally and processed foods were at a minimum. During the 1980′s, things begin to get a bit more complicated. Food companies suddenly felt the need to make health claims with their foods. Labels such as “high fiber” or “low cholesterol” started to appear.
